General Travel Information
There are three different currencies tourists could use in Myanmar; Kyats, FEC and US$ (and GBP £ in purchasing FECs).
The currency of Myanmar is "Kyat". The most commonly used currently circulating Kyat bank notes are K1., K5, K10, K15, K20, K45, K50, K90, K100, K200, K500 and K1000.
FEC (Foreign Exchange Certificates) is Myanmar's second legal currency. It can be spent anywhere in Myanmar. It can be purchased using cash in US$, GBP (£), American Express and Visa Credit card at the money exchange counter on arrival at the Myanmar International airport. Myanmar businesses can accept FEC without requiring a special permit or license. There are many licensed money exchangers at which you could exchange FEC for Kyats.
US$ can only be used in making payments to businesses which have been officially approved to perform transaction in US$. A limited number of such businesses include hotels, airlines, souvenir shops and Myanmar Railways, etc.
Any foreign exchange banks, large hotels and MTT accept Traveller's Cheques.

Vaccines against Malaria and Hepatitis are recommended. The risk of malaria exists at rural area. Taking precaution against food and water born disease is also recommended and always use bottled water or boiled water.
Unlike majority of countries in the world, Myanmar climate is divided into three distinct seasons for each year. November to February is Winter, March to June is Summer and July to October is wet Monsoon season. The best season for the tourist is winter when the temperature is mild.
Although Myanmar climate is mainly tropical, weather conditions differ from region to region. Generally, it is much cooler in mountains; hot and dried at low land central Myanmar, whereas the Southern Myanmar is mainly monsoon, hot and humid. Some mountains in the north like Khakabo Razi (situated between Myanmar and Tibet) are also snow capped throughout the year.
